3M Scotchgard Fabric Protection

A unique fabric protection treatment that keeps your upholstery, carpets, drapes and rugs look fresh and new for long!

3M ScotchgardTM Fabric Protection treatment creates an invisible shield on the fabric and protects it from dust, spills, and stains. The chemical repels the liquid and prevents it from getting absorbed into the fabric; which further prevents stains.

  • Helps block future stains for easier cleanup
  • Ideal for use on sofas, upholstery, curtains, rugs, throw pillows, bedding, table linens, crafts, luggage, auto upholstery, etc.
  • The chemical does not change the look, feel, and breathability of the fabric

What is the process?

Our trained applicator visits the place on the time and day suitable for the customer. On an average it takes about 30 minutes to finish treating a 7 seater sofa. Once the work is done, it takes about 2 hours to dry. The smell of the chemical too goes off by then.

What is the result?

Once the treatment is successfully done and the fabric completely dries up, any liquid that falls on the fabric will not get soaked into the fabric. Instead, it will form up as beads on top of the fabric which can easily be cleaned by simply dabbing with a paper tissue. Easy cleanup; no stains!

3M Scotchgard Fabric Protection for Sofas and Upholstery

Spilled tea, coffee, cola or oil can leave unwanted marks on your sofa and upholstered furniture. Fabric Protection with 3M Scotchgard helps repel liquid spills, giving you more time to clean them before they soak into the fabric. Delta Solutions offers professional fabric treatment to help maintain the appearance of sofas, upholstery, carpets, curtains and other suitable textile surfaces.

Designed to make everyday fabric care easier, Scotchgard treatment helps reduce the risk of liquid stains while allowing the fabric to retain its natural look and feel. Whether you want to protect a new sofa or make routine maintenance easier for your existing upholstery, Delta Solutions can help you understand the treatment and arrange a professional application.

How Does Scotchgard Fabric Protection Work?

Scotchgard creates an invisible protective effect on treated fabric that helps repel liquid spills rather than allowing them to penetrate immediately. When tea, coffee or another liquid lands on a treated surface, it may form droplets on the fabric, giving you an opportunity to absorb the spill with a clean tissue or cloth before it causes a stain.

This treatment is designed to make cleaning easier, not to make upholstery completely stain-proof. Results depend on the fabric, the type of spill, the application and how quickly the spill is addressed.

Another benefit is that the treatment does not work by laminating the fabric. The fabric’s porosity is retained, helping preserve its original feel and breathability. Fabric suitability should always be confirmed before application.

Professional Sofa Stain Protection for Everyday Living

Sofas and upholstered furniture are exposed to daily use, accidental spills and dust accumulation. A professional Scotchgard fabric protection treatment can help reduce the impact of these everyday challenges and make routine maintenance more manageable.

The treatment is suitable for various applications, subject to fabric compatibility, including:

Sofas & upholstered furniture

Help reduce the risk of stains caused by everyday liquid spills.

Carpets & rugs

Support easier cleanup when accidental spills occur.

Curtains & textiles

Help maintain the appearance of frequently used household fabrics.

For households with frequently used seating, Fabric Protection can be a practical addition to regular upholstery care. It complements routine cleaning rather than replacing it.

What to Expect During the Professional Treatment

Delta Solutions arranges a trained applicator to visit the customer’s location at a mutually suitable time. The treatment process is straightforward, although the time required depends on the furniture and the surfaces being treated.

1

Application

Approximately 30 minutes for a seven-seater sofa (published estimate).

2

Drying

Around two hours for drying. Follow the applicator’s instructions before using the treated furniture.

3

Aftercare

Blot spills promptly with a clean cloth or tissue. Avoid rubbing. Continue routine vacuum cleaning and follow your upholstery care instructions.

If you need cleaning before applying a treatment, Delta Solutions also provides carpet and upholstery cleaning services. Cleaning and fabric treatment serve different purposes, so the appropriate sequence should be confirmed for your furniture.

How Long Does Scotchgard Treatment Last?

The lifespan of a treatment depends on fabric use, maintenance and cleaning frequency. Delta Solutions gives an average estimate of approximately one to one-and-a-half years, depending on how well the fabric is maintained. This is an estimate, not a guaranteed duration.

Repeated dry cleaning can reduce the effectiveness of the fabric protection treatment. Effectiveness declines after each dry-cleaning cycle and may disappear after two to three cycles. If your upholstery requires professional cleaning, discuss the appropriate maintenance approach before arranging another application.

Frequently Asked Questions About Fabric Protection

Does Scotchgard prevent stains on a sofa?

Scotchgard helps repel liquid spills and gives you more time to clean them before they penetrate the fabric. It can reduce the likelihood of some stains, but it does not guarantee that every spill or mark can be prevented.

Does the treatment change the colour or texture of the fabric?

Delta Solutions states that the fabric protection treatment does not change the fabric’s colour or texture. Fabric compatibility should still be checked before application, particularly for delicate or specialised materials.

Does Scotchgard treatment laminate the sofa fabric?

No. According to Delta Solutions, the treatment does not laminate the fabric, and its porosity is retained.

How long does it take to treat a sofa?

The published estimate is approximately 30 minutes for a seven-seater sofa, followed by around two hours of drying time. Larger or more complex applications may require additional time.

How long does the treatment remain effective?

Delta Solutions gives an average estimate of one to one-and-a-half years, depending on maintenance. Repeated dry cleaning can reduce effectiveness, so the actual duration may vary.

Why may loose sofa cushions cost more to treat?

Loose cushions have additional surfaces that need treatment. A loose cushion may require treatment on both sides as well as the sofa seat beneath it. The final quotation depends on the furniture configuration and treatment area.

Where is professional treatment available?

Delta Solutions identifies the National Capital Region (NCR) as its service area. Contact the team to confirm current coverage, appointment availability and any additional charges for locations outside the regular service area. The company generally requests one to two days’ advance notice.
